Explore! Play! Learn!

Little Forest Playschool is a cooperatively-managed preschool for children aged 2-5, located in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Since our founding in 1951, we have given children the opportunity to learn the same way they do naturally: through exploration and play. Little Forest alumni have moved on to become Science Fair winners, class valedictorians, artists, teachers, scientists, and community leaders.

Come out and play!
Do we provide full-time childcare or part-time preschool?  Yes.

Kids from ages 2 to 6 call Little Forest home during the week.  Our flexible programs provide a peer group experiences, stimulating environments, and challenging, age-appropriate educational and play materials.  Step into our classes on any day, and you may see kids involved in:
group activities  –  cooking — outdoor play — free play — language
science –  art — music — snack time — story time — math

Whether you’re seeking full-time childcare or a few hours per week of preschool to give Mom & Dad time to breathe, we have options to fit your needs.

Toddlers learn to socialize with their peers. Hands-on activities are offered to children to enhance their small motor skills. Indoor and outdoor play enhance large motor skills.

Enter the 2-3 year olds’ world, and you may find kids painting, rolling play-doh, singing songs, or jumping around playing games. And, yes, they do nap sometimes!

Summer 2010 Newsletter

June 2, 2010

We’ve got a fun couple of months lined up and are delighted to have you be a part of it.

In order for all of us to have a safer and easier summer, please take a few moments to read through all of the attached information.

Emergency Contact Information

Many things change over the course of a year…new friends, new phone numbers, new addresses. In an effort to keep our records as current as possible, we are asking that everyone complete a new Emergency Contact Sheet (pdf). Please fill out this form and return it to the office as soon as possible.

Sunscreen

According to State Regulation, Playschool teachers and staff members are not allowed to apply sunscreen or chapstick without written consent from a parent or guardian. We also cannot provide either of these, as the State considers them to be forms of medication.

If you want your child to wear sunscreen or chapstick this summer, please sign the consent form in your child’s classroom and provide a bottle of sunscreen or tube of chapstick labeled with your child’s name.

Summer Camps

We have some fun and fascinating camps lined up! Camps (information and registration sheets here) are open to everyone, not just Little Forest kids, so encourage your friends to come along!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please stop by the office or send me an email. Here’s to a sensational summer!
