Registration Form (pdf)

Last summer, kids from all over — both LFPS students and kids on summer break — came out to play with us for targeted summer camps. This summer, we’re doing it again!

Schedule & Fees

All camps run from 9:00 a.m. to noon daily for one week. Each camp costs a registration and materials fee of $90 per camp for children not otherwise attending LFPS during the summer. For current students, we discount 10% for each day the child is registered at Little Forest (5 days/wk = $45, 4 days = $54, 3 days = $63, 2 days = $72). All camps require prepaid fees for registration.

2010 Summer Camp Schedule

  • Dr. Doolittle Camp
    June 14-18 - Cheryl Rosenberger
Join Ms. Cheryl in an exploration of creatures great & small, feathered & furry, wild & tame. The week's activities include a demonstration by the Santa Fe Raptor Society, visits to the stables to meet farm animals, up-close and personal meetings with more exotic pets, and a dog agility demonstration.

  • Photography Camp
    June 21-25 - Maureen Connolly
Why do some photographs just show a scene, while others capture the imagination? How can a kid document his or her world? In this camp, students will participate in activities such as making pinhole cameras and taking pictures through pinhole cameras onto various "films." They will learn about fish-eye lens photos, digital photography, computer image editing, and solar prints. We also anticipate a field trip to Don Taylor's photography studio.
  • 2-D Art Camp
    June 28-July 2 - Maureen Connolly
There's art on the wall! How did it get there? Students will learn about several noteworthy artists in history, and wield artistic tools such as paint (of various varieties), paper, pastels, and dye to create their own works. They may also enjoy a trip to the Fuller Lodge Art Center, where they can see local artists' work in person.
  • Environmental Science Camp
    July 5-9 - Cheryl Rosenberger
We know that we need to protect our home -- the Earth -- but what does that mean in every day life? Kids will learn about ecosystems and the importance of biodiversity and how recycling and renewable energy are crucial to our environmental future. Students will conduct field studies in areas such as Acid Canyon and the North Mesa, collecting field samples of water and vegetation. Additional activities include a swimming trip to the Aquatic Center, a hay ride on North Mesa, a tour of the local eco station (where does our recycling go?), and a clean-up day.
  • 3-D Art Camp
    July 12-16 - Maureen Connolly
Learn about famous artists, then continue on to create great works of your own! Creations may include clay moldings, plaster work, wire sculptures and mobiles, and soap/wax carvings. The week may also include a field trip to the Fuller Lodge Art Center.

  • Get a Clue! Super Sleuth Science Camp
    July 19-23 - Maureen Connolly
Do your children like mysteries? Do they enjoy collecting clues and solving puzzles? This is the camp for them! In this week-long class, we will develop deductive reasoning skills through appropriate activities, including reading mysteries, playing mystery games, and learning about the scientific techniques used by detectives and crime scene investigators. Additional activities may include: - fingerprinting - use of magnifying glasses - examination with microscopes (optical and digital) - comparing fingerprints - shoeprint casting - making tooth or tool impressions - ink chromatography - possible field trip to the police station for a tour and/or demonstration
  • Dr. Doolittle Camp
    August 2-6 - Cheryl Rosenberger
By popular demand, we've added a second session of the Dr. Doolittle camp! Join Ms. Cheryl in an exploration of creatures great & small, feathered & furry, wild & tame. The week's activities include a demonstration by the Santa Fe Raptor Society, visits to the stables to meet farm animals, up-close and personal meetings with more exotic pets, and a dog agility demonstration.

  • All camps except Dr. Doolittle and 2-D Art are tailored for preschool children aged 4 to 6.
  • Dr. Doolittle Camp and 2-D Art Camp are open to children aged 3 to 5.
  • All descriptions contain anticipated activities and trips. Instructors reserve the right to rearrange course activities and trips to suit any given class makeup.
  • A younger-child version of the Doctor Doolittle Camp can be scheduled if there is enough interest to form a full class. Would your 2 or 3 year old enjoy an animal camp? Leave a commet.
